EVERETT — A man charged with a Jan. 3 shooting death outside a Lynnwood apartment complex was arrested early Saturday.
Michael Ray V. Mitchell II, 25, had been sought on a $1 million arrest warrant charging him with second-degree murder. He was arrested without incident at an Everett apartment Saturday morning, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
Mitchell’s girlfriend also was arrested for investigation of rendering criminal assistance.
Mitchell is accused of fatally shooting Armond G. Davidson, 22. He was charged Thursday in Everett District Court with second-degree murder.
Investigators believe Mitchell shot Davidson during a dispute that occurred between groups who had gathered to watch a fight between two women.
There were tensions between the groups, and Davidson and one of the women spat on each other. Investigators were told Mitchell got out of a car, pulled out a gun and shot Davidson once. He and his friends then drove off.
Mitchell knew police were searching for him. He’d had an attorney call detectives after the shooting to discuss surrender, but he did not follow through.
On Thursday, detectives nearly caught up with Mitchell when he appeared at the Snohomish County auditor’s office and applied for a marriage license. Mitchell used his credit card to pay the fee, and that alerted the sheriff’s office.
