LYNNWOOD – A suspected burglar allegedly left his buddies behind to take the rap, but apparently wasn’t willing to trust his car’s fate to the police, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported Sunday.
A trio of burglars were caught inside a fenced vehicle-holding lot at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday near Lynnwood. Deputies determined the burglars were in the process of dismantling a vehicle, hoping to steal its suspension parts, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.
After their arrest, the men, ages 18 to 22 and all from south Snohomish County, said another man had been involved. They led investigators to two cars, parked nearby, in preparation of hauling away stolen parts. Deputies impounded the vehicles.
Not long after, a man showed up at the sheriff’s office south precinct in Mill Creek. He tried to talk deputies into giving him back his impounded vehicle.
He didn’t get the car. All four men are being investigated for possible second-degree burglary charges, Jorgensen said.

Deputy stops car-jacking in progress: It looked like a case of domestic violence, but the struggle between a man and woman in a car just south of Everett early Saturday actually was a car-jacking.
A deputy spotted the pair struggling at about 2:25 a.m. as they sat in a car along Airport Road. The woman, in her 20s from south Snohomish County, jumped out of the car and told the deputy that the man was taking her vehicle, Jan Jorgensen, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, said Sunday.
Deputies caught up with the man as he drove east along Airport Road. He eventually drove to the 500 block of 128th Street SW, where he pulled into a store parking lot, and tried to shake his pursuers, Jorgensen said.
The chase ended when sheriff’s Sgt. John Padilla blocked the driver’s path with his patrol vehicle, and the man crashed at low speed into the law officer’s car.
Nobody was injured. The man, who is in his 20s, was booked into the county jail in Everett for investigation of robbery and possession of stolen property.
