EVERETT — Deputies arrested a man on suspicion of assault after he was found hiding inside a trash can outside Mariner High School on Sunday.
Around 6 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a female screaming she had been assaulted and a man fleeing the scene in the 11800 block of 4th Avenue West in Everett, according to a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office social media post.
Deputies were familiar with the suspect, as he had an active felony warrant and existing probable cause to arrest for assault, the post said.
While searching, deputies discovered the 36-year-old man near an adjacent apartment complex. The suspect fled on foot to Mariner High School after noticing law enforcement.
Deputies pursued the suspect as he jumped a fence, entered school grounds and hid inside a trash can, the post said.
Law enforcement booked the man into Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of two counts of assault.
