MOUNT VERNON — The Skagit County sheriff’s office says a man has surrendered in connection with the death of a man whose body was found last month near Sedro-Woolley.
The sheriff’s office says 32-year-old Ashlee Smith went to a home in Mount Vernon on Sunday night and asked the resident to call police because he wanted to turn himself in.
Smith was jailed for investigation of murder and identity theft in the death of Dean Jackson whose body was found Feb. 25 with the help of a cadaver dog.
Jackson’s granddaughter, Ami Morin, was arrested earlier for investigation of murder and identity theft in his death.
