Investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify the man.
Police believe the man broke into a house in Kenmore before trying to steal a vehicle in Edmonds about 9:30 a.m. The man then forced his way into an Edmonds home, assaulted the homeowner and stole his vehicle, police said. Washington State Patrol troopers chased after the man, who eventually crashed the stolen van in Seattle. The suspect then reportedly broke into a nearby house, telling the homeowner he had a gun. He reportedly phoned the Far West Cab Company and shaved his head while he was waiting for a taxi, police said.
Investigators believe the suspect was dropped off in the Northgate area.
He is a white man in his mid-20s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall with a lean build.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 911 or the Edmonds Police Department tip line at 425-771-0212.
