EVERETT — A suspected impaired driver struck a Washington State Patrol car Wednesday morning on I-5 between Everett and Marysville, troopers said.
Around 2:20 a.m., a trooper responded to reports of a disabled vehicle on I-5 north near milepost 197, trooper Kelsey Harding said. The trooper was standing outside with the driver when another car struck the patrol car.
No injuries were reported.
Lanes on I-5 north were closed for several hours as troopers investigated, but opened back up around 5 a.m.
Police took the driver who hit the patrol car into custody for investigation of DUI, Harding said.
Further north on I-5, a suspected impaired driver hit and killed trooper Chris Gadd as he was parked on the shoulder near 136th Street NE in March.
