Anybody who’s interested in becoming a volunteer who teaches people about adopting a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle is welcome to join a class hosted by Washington State University Extension starting later this month.
The once-weekly course takes place at McCollum Park in south Everett over seven weeks.
The deadline to sign up is Jan. 18. The cost is $30 plus a commitment to volunteer 40 hours during the coming year.
The class examines environmentally sustainable habits. It looks at energy use and choices people make about food, transportation, soil, water, biodiversity, solid waste and economics.
Training includes the science of climate change, how to compost and buying locally grown food.
Training takes place Tuesdays from 6 to 9:15 p.m., Jan. 29 through March 12. Two Saturday field trips are planned as well.
