TACOMA — A 34-year-old Tacoma man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for the beating death of his 3-year-old son.
Pierce County prosecutors say Kingsa McKnight was sentenced Friday in the June 2014 killing.
McKnight pleaded guilty in 2015 to second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
They boy was unconscious when McKnight took him to a hospital and he could not be revived. Doctors found recent head trauma and a liver laceration and fractured rib from different times in the past month.
The prosecutor’s office says the boy’s parents live separately, and he had spent his previous three days in his father’s care. The boy’s mother told detectives that McKnight was angry because he shared a bed with his son and the boy wet the bed the two previous nights.
