Mayor-elect Bob Colinas wants to encourage open government and teamwork in Brier. The town of about 6,500 residents needs stability, he said.
Most importantly, he said, he wants to reach out to residents.

“Our community is full of great volunteers, and I want to send them the message that Brier wants them, needs them and encourages them to participate in the city,” Colinas said.
Colinas, 50, a councilman for eight years, said his priorities will include filling city positions. Personnel was a problem under previous Mayor Gary Starks, who did not seek re-election.
“I am a delegator,” Colinas said.
He aims to finish the city’s comprehensive plan review, and promised voters to keep Brier as rural as possible, even though state laws are forcing many cities to allow denser development.
Colinas intends to keep his job as park operations superintendent for Lynnwood.
