Toddler drowns in swimming pool

BUCODA — Police say the death of a toddler in a swimming pool in the Thurston County town of Bucoda was an accident.

The 19-month old boy drowned Monday night in an above-ground pool with water about 4 feet deep.

A Tenino police officer and Bucoda firefighters who were called to the home could not revive the child.

The Olympian reports a 21-year-old relative who was watching the boy and his 6-year-old brother was away from them for a few minutes when she heard screaming. She found the 6-year-old trying to keep his brother afloat in the pool.
