YAKIMA — A 14-year-old Toppenish boy convicted of groping two women in separate attacks last year has been sentenced to at least two years in juvenile detention.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reported Yakima County Superior Court Judge Richard Bartheld rejected his request for out-of-custody sex offender therapy on Thursday.
The boy was 13 at the time of the attacks.
Authorities say that he groped and struggled with a 37-year-old woman inside a Catholic church and drove his mother’s minivan to a bikini-barista stand where he crawled through the window and began groping the lone woman working.
The boy has an already lengthy criminal history dating back to 2011. The boy pleaded guilty to animal cruelty after flinging a Chihuahua mix and breaking its leg. Before that the boy had been caught breaking into an elderly woman’s home.
