Transient charged in knife attack that injures 2

EVERETT — Prosecutors have charged a transient man with assault for a knife attack that left two people injured.

Einar Hansen II, 41, was intoxicated and high on methamphetamine June 19 when he began yelling that his motorcycle had been stolen. He reportedly walked by a man standing outside a motorhome and began accusing him of stealing the bike, according to court documents.

The two came to blows and Hansen was knocked to the ground. The other man walked away and went into his friend’s motorhome.

A witness told detectives that Hansen frequently yells as he walks around the RV park on Highway 99 in Lynnwood. A woman tried to calm Hansen down after the scuffle but her efforts failed. He allegedly ran after the other man, waving around a knife he’d taken from his pocket, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Edirin Okoloko wrote.

He entered the motorhome and allegedly stabbed one man in the back. That man hadn’t been involved in the earlier fight. He’d only come outside after hearing the commotion.

Hansen pushed past that man and allegedly stabbed the other man several times. The woman finally persuaded Hansen to stop. They all exited the motorhome, and while they were outside Hansen allegedly tried to hug one of the injured men and apologized, Okoloko wrote.

He jumped a fence before police showed up.

Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment.

A deputy and his dog found Hansen in thick vegetation on 164th Street SW. He reportedly refused to surrender. A police dog was sent in and Hansen was taken into custody. Deputies allegedly found a bloody folding knife near the location. Hansen also was carrying a knife, court papers said.

A motorcycle was found outside the RV park. It was listed as stolen.

Hansen was taken to a hospital to be treated for dog bites. He had a blood alcohol level of .27 and tested positive for meth, court papers said. He was held at the hospital for several hours before being booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

Hansen is charged with two counts of second-degree assault. He was being held on $100,000 bail.
