A man walked in to the office yesterday and wanted to know about trees coming down along W. Marine View Drive, just north of 10th Street. He was concerned about taxpayer money and who would earn the profits, etc.
The answer is the railroad, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, is clearing the railroad’s right of way in that area of vegetation for safety purposes, said spokesman Gus Melonas. So no taxpayer money involved.
He described the work as clearing limbs and shrubs. If you’ve driven by that spot, it also involves some large trees.
