EVERETT — A trial has been delayed into late May for a Lake Stevens man facing criminal charges for what prosecutors say was a methamphetamine-fueled crash on I-5 that took two young lives.
Todd Eugene Brown, 52, slammed his employer’s Ford F-250 into a minivan in the northbound lanes near Lynnwood in February 2017.
The truck became embedded inside the van’s passenger compartment. Killed were Amiyah Johnson, 12, a sixth-grader at Olympic View Middle School, and her cousin, Yesterday Wallace, 2. Two boys, ages 5 and 7, were hospitalized with broken bones.
A blood test reportedly found methamphetamine in Brown’s system. He is charged with two counts each of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
Brown’s trial had been set for this week. Instead, it has been rescheduled to May 25. The move came after his attorney asked for more time to file pre-trial motions and investigate, court papers say.
