GORST — The Washington State Patrol says a pipe bomb was found in a pickup truck involved in a fatal crash on Highway 3 near the Bremerton Airport.
Trooper Krista Hedstrom says the bomb squad responded as other troopers tried to clear the wreckage from the five-vehicle crash today that killed one person and sent two others to hospitals.
Hedstrom says a trooper went with the 21-year-old pickup driver to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton to determine whether drugs or alcohol are a factor.
Hedstrom says the pickup crossed the centerline, forcing an oncoming semi-truck into another car, killing the driver. The semi then rolled over on a small car, trapping that driver for two hours. He was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
A fifth vehicle crashed into the wreckage.
