Traffic is backing up in Monroe this afternoon after a truck caught fire.
The fire started roughly around 1 p.m. in the construction area of the new ramp at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Highway 522, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.
She even sent us a picture.
The fire appeared to be mostly out by 1:30 p.m. There was scanner chatter of a hazmat callout, but it’s not clear that has happened.
As of 1:20 p.m., traffic was open but one eastbound lane was closed, Willis said. Monroe police are working traffic control.
You can (sorta) monitor the traffic at WSDOT’s handy-dandy traffic cameras site: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/monroe/default.aspx?cam=9214.
