ARLINGTON — Two men were arrested Sunday for investigation of a string of robberies at espresso stands and convenience stores.
The arrests were made possible largely thanks to several witnesses who were able to provide police with the license plate of a fleeing suspect’s vehicle after a robbery Sunday, Arlington Police Department spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said.
The break in the case followed an armed robbery around 5:20 p.m. Sunday at Cheeper’s Food and Things in the 500 block of N. West Avenue.
One of the suspects was reported to be wearing plaid pajama bottoms, according to court documents.
The suspects, both 19, also are believed to be responsible for a Feb. 5 armed robbery of Moe’s Espresso in the 100 block of W. Division St.
Two additional armed robberies occurred on Saturday morning.
Around 9:45 a.m., there was a report of an armed robbery at the Triple Shot Espresso stand in the 500 block of N. Olympic Avenue. Less than 20 minutes later, another armed robbery was reported at the Quick Stop convenience store in the 200 block of N. Olympic Avenue.
The suspects are being held for investigation of robbery and assault.
In all four cases, the robber displayed a firearm or claimed to be armed, Banfield said. Police are continuing to investigate and anticipate additional arrests and charges.
