COUPEVILLE — Two people were killed in a head-on crash Monday morning on Whidbey Island, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Families of the deceased were notified Monday morning by authorities. Both were residents of Oak Harbor.
A red Mazda 2 crossed the center line of Highway 20 around 5:20 a.m. near Libbey Road, state troopers said. The Mazda crashed head-on into a southbound Toyota Camry, three miles west of Coupeville.
A State Patrol memo identified the driver of the Mazda as Kenneth L. Bruneau. He was 79.
Sharon T. Tobin, the driver of the Toyota, also died. She was 59.
The State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
