Two police officers were injured Tuesday in a suspected hit-and-run accident near Machias.
The officers were riding motorcycles after attending a training session, said Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. One officer is with the Lynnwood Police Department, while the other’s department was undetermined late Tuesday.
The extent of the officers’ injuries weren’t reported, but they were not considered life threatening, Hover said.
The accident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. in front of Centennial Middle School, 3000 S. Machias Road, between Lake Stevens and Snohomish.
The Lynnwood officer, the more seriously injured of the two, was struck, while the other officer avoided the collision but still suffered minor injuries, Hover said. Both were taken to Providence Everett Medical Center after the accident.
The officers’ names were unavailable Tuesday. The suspected hit-and-run driver was taken into custody for questioning, Hover said.
No further details regarding the accident were available.
