SEATTLE — Police in Seattle say two women who stole bags of clothes from a downtown Niketown store made their getaway by threatening staffers with a metal foot-measuring tool.
In a statement, police say store staffers grew suspicious Wednesday when they watched the women stuffing clothing and other items into shopping bags. One employee called 911 while others gathered around the front doors in an effort to deter the thieves.
But one woman grabbed the hefty measuring device from the store’s shoe section and brandished it at the workers gathered around the exit.
She and her companion got out the door and took off in a white Ford Escape with out-of-state plates.
Police say they dropped their makeshift weapon as they fled.
