EVERETT – Victor David talked for more than a half an hour Friday, urging a Snohomish County judge not to sentence him for abusing his frail wife for years on a filthy sailboat, but he left the courtroom facing a 10-year prison sentence.
“I am an innocent man who has been wrongly convicted,” David claimed.
Superior Court Judge Thomas Wynne said there was overwhelming evidence that David deliberately abused his wife, Linda, leaving her blind, brain-damaged and unable to walk.
Although he sentenced David to the maximum punishment allowed under state law, Wynne said there was no sentence “proportional to the seriousness of this case.”
David, 61, on May 21 was found guilty of second-degree assault after a Snohomish County jury found he repeatedly abused his wife, Linda David, 52. It was David’s second trial on the charges.
