Volunteers needed for car washes

MS Helping Hands will hold two car wash fundraisers next month. Volunteers are needed.

Scholarship available for service work

Applicants are sought for the 2006-07 Bob Drewel Human Services Scholarship.

The scholarship helps fund education for people who have dedicated themselves to the service of others.

Auction will raise money for the arts

The H’Arts (“Helping the Arts”) Auction, benefiting the programs of the Arts Council of Snohomish County, will be held March 11 at the Everett Events Center.

The event will start with a silent auction at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $85. Call 425-257-8380.

Home repair service helps the needy

A home of a family in need in Snohomish County soon will be repaired and restored.

The project is an effort of the Performance Automotive Team, consisting of Performance Nissan, Performance Kia and Performance Automotive, along with Rebuilding Together Seattle.

Rebuilding Together Seattle is a nonprofit organization that provides free home rehabilitation services.

Spring Rebuilding Day, to be held April 29, provides free home repair services to deserving homeowners and nonprofit community centers.

To qualify, homeowners must occupy their homes and show financial, physical or medical limitations that prevent them from carrying out the work. Applications are available at www.rtseattle.org.

Group raises $50,000 for family shelter

The Interfaith Association of Snohomish County held its “Gold for the Gold” benefit dinner and auction Feb. 11.

More than $50,000 was raised to benefit the organization’s mission to build a better Snohomish County through partnerships among people of all faiths. The event, held at the new Everett Holiday Inn, was attended by more than 250 guests.

The association is a consortium of 44 faith communities throughout the county that operates the largest family homeless shelter in the area.

Low-income students get aid

The PacifiCare Foundation, a nonprofit organization established by PacifiCare Health Systems, has contributed $5,000 to Blue and Gold.

Blue and Gold is a community-based organization that works to further the education of students at Everett High School. The donation will help provide aid for low-income students working to advance their education and personal development.
