WARM BEACH — If you love Christmas and have a little time on your hands in December, The Lights of Christmas folks could sure use your help.
Warm Beach Camp officials plan to open the doors to the public for a sneak preview of The Lights of Christmas and a free program, “What’s Up with The Lights?” from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Lodge, 20800 Marine Drive.
Those who attend can catch a glimpse of The Lights of Christmas colorful lighting displays and learn about volunteer opportunities.
The Lights of Christmas is the largest holiday light display in the Northwest, Warm Beach staff said. It combines live entertainment, activities for kids, food, gift shopping and overnight getaway options.
Each year, more than 800 volunteers donate a combined 15,000 hours for the Christmas light display.
These volunteer jobs include parking attendants, hospitality greeters, costumed characters, toy shop elves and behind-the-scenes crews.
For each night of the 20-night run of the The Lights of Christmas, about 100 volunteers are needed.
The Warm Beach Camp staff also needs volunteers to help set up and take down the event.
In a press release from the camp, volunteer Glenn Burkins said he and his family enjoy helping out and focusing on helping others enjoy Christmas.
“Feeling good is not the point,” Glenn said, “and it’s not about what you get. The whole point of our Christmas became about giving and being prepared to give.”
