Woman again accused of attacking driver, trying to take car

EVERETT — An Arlington woman accused of asking a passerby for a ride, choking and hitting the driver, and then attempting to take the car earlier this year appears to be back at it.

The suspect, 38, was arrested again May 3. She shoved a driver out of a car in Everett before speeding off, according to a probable cause affidavit.

She was a passenger in the woman’s car until they were stopped at the intersection of Madison Street and Olympic Avenue. That’s where the suspect started pushing the driver out.

They fought, leaving the driver with a bite mark on her arm and scratches on her knee, police said.

The suspect took off in the car and left the woman behind.

Everett police officers searched the area and initially weren’t able to find the Arlington woman. Meanwhile Marysville police officers had taken her into custody for an unrelated incident.

The suspect’s previous attempted carjacking case was still pending.

In that Feb. 8 incident, she flagged down a passing van along N. Olympic Drive in Arlington. A 45-year-old mother and her 10 year-old daughter had stopped to help. The suspect said someone had been chasing her and asked for a ride to a gas station along 67th Avenue NE, according to court papers.

Once they arrived, the suspect asked the driver to take her to the Smokey Point area, police said. The driver said she couldn’t. She and her daughter had somewhere to be.

The suspect reportedly choked the driver with a scarf, elbowed her in the face and pushed on the van’s gas pedal. She gave the mother a bloody nose and chipped a tooth, police said. The driver was eventually able to pull over.

That’s when the suspect got out of the van and decided to catch the attention of another passing car. This time, it was a red pickup. She leaped into the bed of the truck that was heading east on 211th Place NE. Soon after, she ditched the truck and ran into a nearby house where she was later arrested.

Police said methamphetamine may have been a factor. She told officers her husband injects her with the drug while she sleeps, according to court papers.

She has been charged with felony assault and reckless endangerment.

The woman has a lengthy criminal history in Snohomish County. She also is being held at the Snohomish County Jail on an animal cruelty charge.
