SNOHOMISH – Police forced a woman’s car off the road, smashed through her window and shot her with a stun gun to end a high-speed pursuit through town.
The 27-year-old Everett woman led police on a chase early Friday that reached speeds of up to 70 mph. She had five outstanding warrants for her arrest and was wanted by several law-enforcement agencies, Snohomish Police Department spokeswoman Linda Hardy said.
The woman had managed to outrun police in a vehicle pursuit in December, Hardy said.
On Friday, she was arrested on suspicion of eluding police and possessing a controlled substance. She also faces possible charges from her outstanding warrants. She was treated at Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus before she was taken to jail.
A Snohomish police officer spotted her about 12:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Pine Avenue. He followed her for several blocks before turning on his flashing lights.
The woman took off, Hardy said.
She drove through town and turned westbound on Second Street. Then she got on Riverview Road, driving in the oncoming lane, Hardy said. The officer followed and called for backup.
The woman lost control of her vehicle, spinning out at the intersection of 79th Avenue SE and Riverview Road. The woman then tried to drive away in the direction of an oncoming patrol car, police said. The pursuing officer stopped her by driving his car into hers and pushing it off the road.
Officers yelled at the woman to get out of her car. When she didn’t come out, an officer used a collapsible baton to break her passenger-side window. Then they shot her with a the stun gun and pulled her out.
Police found what they believed to be marijuana and cocaine in the woman’s car, as well as narcotic and drug paraphernalia.
