TACOMA — A woman who helped dismember a man’s body with a chain saw after prosecutors say she asked her brother to kill him 31 years ago has been sentenced in Tacoma to life in prison.
Renee Ray Curtiss, 55, was sentenced Friday in Pierce County Superior Court. She was arrested last year and convicted this month of first-degree murder in the 1978 death of 53-year-old Joseph Tarricone.
Prosecutors contended Curtiss convinced her brother, Nicholas Notaro, to kill Tarricone because she’d grown tired of his romantic advances.
Curtiss admitted she helped dismember the body but denied soliciting Tarricone’s death.
Tarricone’s remains were found in 2007 by a construction crew clearing a lot near Puyallup.
Notaro, now 60, also was sentenced earlier this month to life.
