MARYSVILLE — The price tag on a road project that will help connect 67th Avenue NE to Highway 9 has gone up.
The Marysville City Council approved an additional $165,000 for the Ingraham Boulevard project on Monday night, which brought the price of the project to $3.07 million.
The money will fund unexpected roadwork including the repair of pavement and the road bed at the west end of the project to 67th Avenue NE and fix problems caused by stormwater overrun.
Work on the corridor is still on schedule to be completed in October, according to public works director Kevin Nielsen.
“We’re shooting for mid-October but weather is always a concern,” Nielsen said. “If we get the great September weather we’ll be on schedule and we’ll make it.”
Crews cannot work in the Grace Creek basin where a culvert is being installed after Oct. 15, Nielsen added.
“The fish window started July 15 through Oct. 15, which dictated a lot of the work couldn’t be in stream until that time period,” he said.
When finished, the road will provide an additional route to Marysville Getchell High School that is less steep than 84th Street NE. The public works department has not received any complaints that the project has caused backups or other problems to or from the new high school.
The City Council approved a $2.9 million contract in December for the corridor project to SRV Construction of Oak Harbor.
