BELLEVUE — Demolition starts Monday at the former site of a Safeway distribution center in Bellevue where developers plan a $2.3 billion live-work-play neighborhood.
The 36-acre residential and retail development is called the Spring District.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reported that it will be centered around a light rail station connecting it to Seattle and Microsoft in Redmond.
The first phase calls for more than 300 apartments to open in two or three years. Full development will take 15 years.
