TACOMA — An Orting man driving a Honda Civic the wrong way on Interstate 5 at Tacoma was killed in a head-on collision with a semi-truck.
The Washington State Patrol said the wrong-way driver had nearly collided with several other drivers, including a state trooper who was trying to alert the driver he was in the wrong lanes.
The crash at 2:10 a.m. Sunday killed 24-year-old Garrett M. Felt. The truck driver was not injured.
The patrol also said there was a wrong-way crash Sunday night on Highway 97 in Yakima County that sent both drivers to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Troopers said a 23-year-old Mattawa man who was in the wrong lane had been drinking.
