LYNNWOOD – The fifth annual Snohomish County youth methamphetamine summit will be Feb. 2 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW.
The “Don’t Mess With Meth” event drew more than 1,200 middle and high school students to the Everett Events Center in 2005. Organizers hope to exceed those numbers at next month’s event. The summit will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided, and there will be an after-summit party from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
The summit offers demonstrations, testimonials, contests, music and prizes. Speakers focus on the dangers of meth and resources available to young people to stay drug-free.
For more information or to register, call 425-388-3414 or go to www.methsummit.com.
The Snohomish County Meth Action Team, which organizes the summit, also is seeking corporate sponsors, business partners and personal contributors, as well as volunteers. Organizers also are collecting items to be used as door prizes at the event.
To donate, call Snohomish County Sheriff Rick Bart at 425-388-3026 or team coordinator Beth Kerwin at 425-239-1956.
