TACOMA — Officials with the Washington State Bar Association have recommended that Pierce County prosecutor face a disciplinary hearing over his appearance on a talk show during a murder trial that might have violated rules of professional conduct.
The News Tribune reported Friday that the Bar Association’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel made the recommendation Sept. 8 regarding Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist.
It stems from Lindquist’s appearance on the Nancy Grace show in February 2016 during a widely watched murder trial. Lindquist speculated about the motives of defendant Skylar Nemetz, saying among other things that his actions “add up to murder.”
Asked for comment, Lindquist didn’t address the bar association letter directly. Instead he replied with a statement about staying focused on keeping the community safe.
His lawyer told the newspaper there’s “zero chance of a suspension coming out of this.”
