Let’s look at the election results for governor this way: If the various county election/canvassing boards had instructed their workers to look at each absentee ballot coming in, and with fair and balanced accountability by having the various party representatives overseeing the changes – as happened in the hand recount – the true voter intent could have been predetermined before the machine count even began.
This would have allowed the “machine error” to be negated and would have reached the same conclusion that the final hand recount came to; that Christine Gregoire was the winner by 10 votes. Even the discovery of the mishandled 700 uncounted votes would not have changed the result. Gregoire would still have won, only this time by approximately 130 votes.
Rossi would not have led at any stage, thereby eliminating the spurious charges from the right that Rossi “had won the first two counts and therefore should have been declared the winner.”
It’s time for Rossi/Vance/Bush Florida lawyers to concede. Enough!
