The citizens of Mill Creek are in mourning and rightly so, since our community has lost one of its leaders and one of its finest gentlemen. Over the years the noun “gentleman” has been losing its positive definition, but Jack Start was a person who brought the noun back into our vocabulary. In the true sence of the word, he was a gentle man.
When he and I were political adversaries both Jack’s and my campaigning always took the high road. As I got to know Jack as a person I became very impressed with his knowledge, his smiling face and his gentle personality. I now feel the loss of his leadership and wisdom.
I hope our City Council passes a proclamation that will lead to a month-long memorial being placed in city hall, which would depict Councilman Jack Start’s long standing contribution to his and our city.
May this gentleman rest In peace. May his family know that Jack’s kindness and contributions to his and our community will always be remembered and they are greatly appreciated!
