A great deal still to blame on Bush

I read the Wednesday letter telling us all that “blaming Bush is no longer tenable.”

I realize that most Republicans want to turn the page of this part of our history as fast as they can — but its not that easy for most of us.

I will blame Bush as long as it takes the U.S. to regain the credibility it once had, before he dragged us all into a war on manufactured claims and evidence. And I will blame Bush as long as:

•The surviving family members of the 4,488 men and women killed in the Iraq war continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones.

The surviving family members of the 2,312 men and women killed in the Afghanistan war continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones.

The seriously injured service members from both wars, continue to suffer.

The family members of the 112,667 (at least) Iraqi civilians killed in our war, continue to suffer.

•Seven out of 10 service members who in fought in both wars, continue to believe that neither war was worth the loss of life or injuries they caused.

•Family members of the thousands of coalition service members who also died in both wars continue to suffer.

country continues to suffer under the crippling and long-lasting financial damage he caused our economy, which we only discovered in his final year in office.

•I will blame Bush for the damage caused to our country’s honor, by the deliberate torture we inflicted on thousands of others. And for:

Every hard-working American that lost their jobs and careers in this Great Recession.

Every American home that has been lost in a foreclosure since 2008, when this Great Recession began.

Turning so many Americans against their own fellow-citizens in the political divisiveness he caused.

Just like Richard Nixon, Mr. Bush has earned his place in history and we will not forget.
