I would like to extend my gratitude to all the people who helped find my son, Jonathan Parks, and his friend Jon Pontrello, who lost their way on the Bogachiel Trail in March.
There are too many names to mention, but they will be forever heroes in our thoughts. These include the search and rescue volunteers, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department; the Olympic National Park workers; the medical and rescue planners; rangers; dog teams, trail head EMP; helicopter OPS; and all the other people searching the Bogachiel Trail.
As Chigger Stokes wrote to our families: “I enjoy search and rescues … at least the ones where everybody goes home.”
We would like to thank these and others for all their courageous efforts.
