Regarding the Snohomish Health District, I have read the many articles regarding the funding dilemma. This could very well mean layoffs, and along with that, the elimination of valuable programs. It is possible they may not be easily reinstated.
Funding from the state hasn’t lasted or kept up with costs or population growth. Dr. M. Ward Hinds, the former health officer, warned that increased funding was needed or a deficit would result. Guess what?
County Executive Aaron Reardon recommends returning to per capita funding and state contribution. It seems to me this is food for thought and action is needed now.
