I am the curriculum and engagement manager with the Tulalip Tribes. I have worked with Charles Adkins for over a year in his role as policy analyst for the Tribes, where he specializes in education, Indian child welfare, housing and transportation. During this time, he has proven to be an incredibly knowledgeable source and a creative problem solver.
Adkins is skilled at both writing and implementing policies while navigating funding barriers and ideological differences, and garnering support for ideas. I have seen how his varied and comprehensive experiences allow him to examine issues from many angles and anticipate barriers others may have missed. His leadership helped bridge resources and harmonize efforts in the Marysville and Tulalip communities. Not only did voters turn out to pass a levy on Feb. 14 which secured crucial funding for the Marysville School District, the voter turnout increased significantly from the previous levy vote.
It is no mystery why Adkins has been endorsed by the Sno-Isle Labor Council, the Everett Education Association, Washington state Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal, every state representative and senator in the school district, and many more. Anyone who sits down to talk with him instantly recognizes his passion, intelligence, and his expertise in the issues facing the district.
