Al-Qaida seems to be thriving

The following is a paragraph from an Associated Press article published Thursday. The headline reads “In video, al-Qaida urges unification.” The article is about a video from al-Qaida calling for Sunnis to unify against the West. That wasn’t really all that disturbing to me, because I’ve seen and heard that all before. Read this passage and see what you think.

“The videotape’s authenticity could not be independently verified. It carried the logo of al-Qaida’s media production wing, al-Sahab. The video was also released by IntelCenter, a U.S. government contractor that monitors al-Qaida messaging.”

Media production wing? Can someone please tell me why after four years of an unjustified war, and more than 3,100 of our young women and men dead with no end in sight, al-Qaida has a media production wing? It even has a name! Isn’t this evidence that we have done very little to curb the terrorist group that really did attack America? We need new leadership now! Our country can’t wait for 2009.
