Alderwood district should charge same rate for water, sewer

I am an Alderwood Water and Wastewater District customer who is retired, lives alone, and whose only income is from Social Security. Being a conservationist, I use very little water, and in my last bill I was charged $33 for water usage and a whopping $138 for sewer charges! (It seems to me that customers who use very little water are not dumping much wastewater down their sewers.)

It would be extremely fair for there to be an equal charge for water usage and sewer dumpage. I’m asking the board to please review their rate structure and come up with a billing schedule that is balanced and more fair.

For example, if I use $33 worth of water, then I should be charged $33 for sewer usage. Residences that use $300 worth of water should be charged $300 for sewer usage. Businesses that use $900 worth of water should be charged $900 for sewer usage.

Contact the Alderwood district board and tell them to revise their rates!

You can email them at commissioners@awwd.com, call 425-743-4605, or send a letter to:

Alderwood Water & Wastewater District; Attn: Board of Commissioners; 3626 156th St. SW; Lynnwood, WA 98087.
