It was with genuine sympathy that I read the Thursday article about the shortage of workers for the orchard growers in Eastern Washington (“Apple growers worried about lack of workers”). That’s really a tough spot to be in. However, I can’t help but think there’s a bright side to this story. I hear so much about how the illegal immigrants take the jobs away from true American citizens, I’m thinking there will be no shortage at all. Why, from what I hear, there must be thousands of anxious citizens just champing at the bit to go work in the orchards. Rally, around guys! Here’s your chance to take back your own.
