Every now and then, because I work for the military, I have to do a random urinalysis. I have no problem with this because I’m not doing anything I shouldn’t. Likewise, when I’m on the road, I don’t blast through highway construction zones, because I know it’s wrong and illegal.
I disagree with Linda Day (Letters, Sept. 7, “Cops posing as road workers is wrong”). Police posing as road workers to tag dangerous drivers is an innovative way to address a problem that many drivers seem to want to excuse. Road workers take their lives in their hands every day working just feet from speeding traffic, and people need to be more aware of this.
But, I would like to ask, is this any different then prostitution stings? Drug stings? Fraud stings? Of course not. Drivers who ignore rational and sane rules of the road are a danger to us all.
