As tempting as it is, don’t change Electoral College

As disappointed as I am that our electorate voted for Donald Trump for president, I do not agree that the Electoral College should be abolished or altered. As I was reading just the other day the Electoral College was established as a compromise between having our president chosen by Congress and being chosen strictly with a popular vote.

Even though I was on the “losing” side in both Y2K, and this year, I feel that any suggestions to abolish or alter the Electoral College process makes those people look like little more than sore losers: “We don’t like the results so we’re going to change the rules.” I daresay that if the results from Y2K and this year had been reversed, the people clamoring for a change wouldn’t have had any problem with the Electoral College process at all. And remember — this coming from a person who would’ve (much) preferred a different outcome 16 years ago and this year!
