Attacks on Councilman Nate Nehring deceitful

I’m writing this letter because I’m really disturbed by what I’m seeing from political opponents of Nate Nearing. I don’t like to see or hear the trashing of someone’s personality, character or age solely for the sake of harming their reputation with no substance and only jealous and angry insulting.

This letter in response to the June 7 Herald article, “Appointed county councilman’s youth, connections criticized.” I am one of more than 100 Republican precinct committee officers who voted to nominate Nehring to the County Council by an overwhelming 76 percent.

Since he joined the County Council at the beginning of the year, I have been more and more impressed with Councilman Nehring by the day. He considers both sides of the issues and does his research before taking votes. He was influential in the saving of over $150 million taxpayer dollars through his vote to renovate the county courthouse rather than build a new one.

I was disappointed to see that Councilman Nehring’s opponents have decided to run negative campaigns full of personal attacks and deceitful claims.

By contrast, I have yet to hear anything negative come from Nehring. I am thrilled to see that he is committed to running a positive campaign based on the issues that voters like me care about. Perhaps that is one reason he has garnered the support of more than 100-plus statewide and local leaders, including John Koster and Dino Rossi. I will be supporting our Nehring in the upcoming election.
