Regarding the Monday letter, “Truckers just try to safely do job”:
I, too, spend a fair amount of time on I-5 and I-405. The writer is correct about how rude, insensitive and aggressive many drivers are. Drivers of all kind need to pay attention to what is going on around them. Many drivers are just plain oblivious to the chaos they create on the road.
It is interesting how the writer didn’t mention the aggressive, bad drivers in his profession. I’m sure he would agree that they exist.
I have witnessed container trucks that have left the ports, and move in packs north on I-5 toward Vancouver, B.C., as many as eight. Add those trucks to the other commercial and personal vehicles, and you have a real mess.
I agree that truckers are vital to the wealth and well-being of our region. Just be realistic about driving. We all create the mess we are in.
