I received a phone call on Wednesday, supposedly from my grandson, who said he had gone on a fishing trip to Canada with friends and nobody knew where he was at.
A car got in front of them and they went into a ditch. Yes, they were OK.
The car rental place would not accept their credit cards so if we would wire him $3,800 he promised to repay us when he got home.
The truth is, my grandson was home taking care of his little sons.
I found this experience very disturbing as the person who phoned me used my grandson’s name and it sounded just like him.
So parents and grandparents beware, as the scammers are alive and well.
