Biden has made country better place

A recent letter to the editor presented an argument against Joe Biden. Everything the author said from inflation to energy was just wrong.

But, I take his letter as an opportunity to point out Joe Biden’s successes.

First, Biden took over at the height of a pandemic for which we were not prepared. He was able to set up a program that got vaccines out to every American who wanted one, then passed legislation that enabled businesses to open up and Americans to get back to work. This resulted in sustained low unemployment we hadn’t seen in 50 years and sustained GDP growth. Our economy is the envy of the world.

Until Biden, Putin had been watching as the U.S. destroyed the greatest threat to his expansionist ambitions, NATO. He saw that Biden had reinvigorated the Alliance and invaded Ukraine in the hope of finishing the emasculation of NATO that Trump had started. Biden assembled a 50-nation coalition to stop him.

Third, Biden’s legislative accomplishments from the Infrastructure Bill to the CHIPS Act, the Gun Safety Act, the PACT Act and the Inflation Reduction Act represent the most successful first term since FDR.

Most importantly, Joe Biden did all of this without sending his supporters to storm the Capitol. Even had he tried, we would not have gone because we love our country.

For these reasons, and many more, Joe Biden has earned my vote on Nov. 5.
