I cannot believe Michael Boyle’s Jan. 4 letter (“Stimulus package: Democrats should not obstruct Bush”). He feels Congress should just rubber stamp President Bush’s economic stimulus package! I wonder why he feels it is the only solution to our economic woes. Isn’t it just possible the Democrats have some good ideas? I agree we need to stimulate the economy but why should big business get all the breaks? I believe they have made some money over the years and perhaps they should put a little of their reserves in the pot or, God forbid, maybe top management could take a small cut in pay – Enron being a good example of greedy management. Their employees seem to have lost everything while management took home big bucks.
I agree time should not be wasted before getting an economic package in place but not at the expense of short-term policies. I would like to see something both sides of the aisle can agree on since I think that would be best for most Americans.
