Bush is president; focus on his actions

In response to the Friday letter, “If Kerry was spying, Demos would OK it”:

Here is some additional speculation on what would happen if Kerry had been elected:

About the rationale used for invasion of Iraq – imagine if Kerry was elected and he was confronted with this issue. If he chose to endorse it and allowed it, would the bipartisan far-right defend his decision? Would they view it as something that President Kerry thinks is right? Somehow I think not!

Instead, since Kerry did it, I’d bet the partisans would start bashing him.

About deficit spending – imagine if Kerry was elected, if he chose to endorse deficit spending and allowed it year after year, would the far-right blindly defend his decision? Would they think of it as something the president thinks is right? No! Since Kerry did it, they would start bashing him.

About reading “My Pet Goat”: Imagine if Kerry was elected, and he was confronted with this issue. If he chose to be filmed reading a children’s book after being informed that the country is under attack, would they defend his decision? Would they think of it as something the president thinks is right? Nope, since Kerry did it, they would start bashing him.

So instead of concentrating on what some other president might have done, I advocate that we all focus on what the current president is doing, for his actions are the ones that effect us the most.
