As I watched the states on the map turn color election night, I thought how apropos it was that Republican majorities were designated with red. Up to election night, I held President Bush and his advisers accountable for deceiving Americans as to the justification for sacrificing hundreds of our soldiers and thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens. It has been proven that there were no weapons of mass destruction and no terrorist sects. It has also been exposed that Bush had been looking for an excuse to invade Iraq to vindicate his father and for oil since the beginning of his presidency.
The majority of voters knows these facts and continues to endorse our invasion of Iraq by electing Bush on Nov. 2. I hold that they are also deserving of being responsible for the red blood that will be shed in Iraq during the next four years.
It is ironic that election officials now tell us that the majority of voters claim morality as their primary reason for voting as they did. I do not believe that a preemptive invasion of a country when there was no proof that it was a threat to our security is a moral act. From my perspective, if it is asked, “What would Jesus do?” upon hearing the election results, I believe he would have wept.
