I don’t want Donald Trump as our president but something’s gotta give. I see the things that are right with our country, but it would be irresponsible to deny what is wrong.
When people make low wages they pay less taxes. After paying bills there’s not much for spending. For this our cities crumble, and our middle class fades. Corporations want to pay less wages, pay less taxes, dump tons of toxins on our planet, and convince the American people that they are entitled to do just that and continue to make more money they could ever spend in three generations.
The government wants to spend money on things that don’t matter, cut spending to things that do, and spend their time figuring out how to get more money out of the people that have little to nothing left to give, in the few days our representatives do work. You can’t depend on the working poor, the dwindling middle class, and the companies that do pay their taxes to pay the enormous bills of our nation. This is unsustainable.
The way I see it, and I hope I’m wrong, is that maybe some of our anger is coming from the feeling that we’re witnessing the downward spiral of our country. Maybe our anger is just the second stage of grief, the hope of our next politician the third stage of bargaining, and when that goes tragically wrong, as I’m sure it will, I know I’m gonna be depressed.
